News about the LG Ally (LG VS740) receiving Froyo (Android 2.2) emerged from last summer, and a few weeks ago we reported that the Froyo update would arrive in February. - Some security options have been improved: device lock, remote device wipe, password complexity, as well as a minimum password length is now mandatory

LG has beat Samsung to update to Android 2.2 Froyo for the LG Ally.  The software update is called LG VS740ZVD, and it offers greater security and better Bluetooth calling.  You will need to enable Wi-Fi and wait for the update notice to appear, and you can manually update by going to "Home" > "Menu" > "Settings" > "About phone" > "System updates."
