The HTC ThunderBolt smartphone is for Verizon, capable of running on its 4G LTE network, is now expected hit store shelves on February 24. The ThunderBolt is a Google Android 2.2 Froyo powered smartphone that offers a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with HD video recording, a 1.3 megapixel forward facing camera, Wi-Fi, and 8GB of internal storage. 

Over the past few weeks the Internets have been flooded with leaked launch dates for the HTC ThunderBolt.  For the most part, rumors have focused on a launch on February 14th or February 24th.  Today, Android Central put its chips on the 24th.

In a post today titled “HTC ThunderBolt launch date,” Android Central writes just one line, “February 24th, 2011.”  While it’s still not confirmed, model number PG05100 which was spotted in FCC documents today is expected to be the Thunderbolt, a Verizon 700MHz LTE device with CDMA and EVDO bands. The device is also shouting for SVDO and SVLTE capabilities.
