The HTC-made T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide just recently received its platform update which unfortunately is not Android 2.3 Gingerbread so you'll have to settle for the 2.2 Froyo version of Google's mobile operating system.

The update is not over-the-air and what's even more strange is that it's PC-only (sorry Mac users) but it boosts your versions to Android 2.2.1 Froyo. It will bring you WiFi calling, WiFi Hotspot, USB tethering and other goodies. You'll need 25mb of User Data available on your device and the files necessary for the update. Check out the source link for instructions and download links to your Froyo treat.

April Fool’s has passed, and T-Mobile is not trolling you – the Froyo update is indeed available for the poor younger brother of the original myTouch 3G which already received Froyo almost 6 months ago. More than a year after its launch, T-Mobile has finally confirmed that it will be providing a much needed Android 2.2.1 Froyo update for the myTouch 3G slide phone.

T-Mobile had already provided a similar update to myTouch 3G back in October but delayed the update for the slider version until yesterday. Some of the new features in this update include; Wi-Fi hotspot, Low storage, (User Data) notification mechanism, Improved compatibility with new Bluetooth devices, Fix for issues with text and picture messaging, Fix for some Bluetooth compatibility issues

Users will need to go for a direct download from HTC as this update is not being released Over-The-Air by T-Mobile.
