LG Optimus 2X is fast emerging as the most affordable dual-core, large-display multimedia phone. The Optimus 2X, the country's first dual core phone, seems to be finding a spot just below the technically most advanced phones in the market today -- the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation. The other two phones -- with which the Optimus shares most of its specifications, are still in the Rs 30,500-32,000 bracket.
For example, instead of the 4.3 inch screens on the others, Optimus 2X has 4 inches, instead of 1.2 GHz dual-core, the 2X has a 1 GHz dual-core processor. Instead of 760 MB RAM (system memory), the Optimus has 512 MB. Also, thanks to a nearly Rs 5,000 drop in price since it was introduced, the LG phone is nearly Rs 9,000 cheaper than the Apple alternative.
The phone will initially be exclusive to Vodafone and will be on sale in Best Buy as well as the Carphone Warehouse. The phone will also be available to buy SIM-free for £499.99. The phone will be able to display as well as record 3D content with dual 5 megapixel cameras on the rear, though no dedicated camera button will be a disappointment for most.
The LG Optimus 3D was touted as the world’s first dual-core, dual-channel, dual memory smartphone, using Texas Instruments OMAP 4 processor platform back at launch in Barcelona, but on the specs page on the Carphone Warehouse website, it appears as if this has been replaced with a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. However LG’s official spec’s page for the phone still lists the OMAP 4 processor so this could be a mistake on the Carphone Warehouse’s listings. The phone has 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card slot up to 32GB.
