Motorola’s Droid Bionic smartphone has been delayed long enough for Motorola to make some changes to the device according to the WSJ. Verizon Wireless will be the carrier of the smartphone. Speculation was that the Bionic had been scrapped in favor of a different Motorola device. The device first surfaced at CES 2011. Three months after its unveiling, the MotorolaDroid Bionic is still without a launch date or price.

In a conversation with The Wall Street Journal today, a Motorola spokeswoman said Moto is delaying the Droid Bionic's release until this summer so it can incorporate several enhancements that will make "an even better consumer experience."

Neither Motorola nor Verizon have said much about the dual-core handset since they first pulled the curtain back at CES in early January. A member from Howard Forums first got the Android faithful buzzing when he claimed that Motorola had scrapped the plans for the Bionic in favor of another device.

How would you change the droid Bionic? Anyone looking forward to getting their hands on a Droid Bionic may be disappointed to hear that Motorola has delayed the release of the phone until summer, possibly as late as Q3.

The rear-facing cameras offer an 8mp resolution, the front-facing one 0.3mp. If Motorola does plan to cancel the Droid Bionic stalling the device and suggesting it will launch with improvements seems like an odd move.
