NASA has launched the Android version of the NASAApp just in time to use it to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch. As well as the ability to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch from your Android device, the NASA app offers up thousands of images from NASA’s growing collection, a library of NASA videos, mission information both past and present, launch countdown clocks, visible pass information for the International Space Station, ISS and Earth Orbiting Satellite tracking, and access to social features such as NASA Twitter and Facebook posts.

The NASA App enables users to find sighting opportunities for the International Space Station as well as track the current positions of spacecraft orbiting the Earth. Users may easily share NASA content with their friends and followers on Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter or through email.

“The NASA App for iPhone and iPad has been a phenomenal success with over five million downloads so far,” said Jerry Colen, NASA App project manager at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. “Making a version of the NASA App for Android has been the number one request from users. The final space shuttle mission will take four veteran astronauts into space for 12 days where they are slated to deliver supplies to the international space station.

The NASA App for Android showcases a huge collection of NASA content, including images, videos on-demand, live streaming video from NASA Television, mission information, feature stories and breaking news. App users also easily can share NASA content with their friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.
